Storytelling in the Schools 2013/14

Storytelling Athelstaneford Sword Sheild storytelling pics June13 060The Trust has commissioned an East Lothian-based company (SKS) to develop a storytelling pilot project, entitled St Andrew and the Saltire, with a view to it being taken into local primary schools. Angie Townsend of SKS has developed the storytelling script, together with a teacher’s resource pack, targeted at classes and groups from P3 upwards. Storytelling provides a great way of bringing history to life within the classroom, while still tying in closely with Curriculum for Excellence, and this project will raise awareness about Athelstaneford and the traditional origins of the national flag. The pilot began in October 2013 and is being rolled out to six schools within the North Berwick HS and Knox Academy clusters.
